AUTHORS FAQ Do you edit reviews? There is no editing of Shotgun Review content unless requested. Authors make contributions on an at-will basis. Occasionally we'll add a link to the gallery mentioned in a review, or fix a spelling mistake, but otherwise we're hands off. Can I write about my friends artwork? We recognize that the art world, like the rest of the world, is a fundamentally social place. So we expect and encourage authors to write about their friends’ exhibitions. We also expect and encourage that they be transparent about this in their reviews. How long should my review be? We like it quick and dirty (or short and sweet). To help facilitate maximum coverage and readership we’re suggesting authors keep Shotgun Reviews to 500 words or less. While we won't complain if an author goes over, we'd like to create a situation that is conducive to authors writing and readers reading multiple reviews. Can I post a comment on Shotgun? We encourage all of our authors and readers to make comments on any review (except their own). Forget letters to the editor published a week or month after the fact, if you don't agree with a review let future readers know! (We mediate the comments only to filter spam). |
